Bio
I have an MFA+MA degree in Creative Writing and English from Northwestern University, and a BS from the University of Michigan, where I majored in Mathematics and Creative Writing. For my graduate thesis, I wrote a book of poems, and for my undergraduate thesis, I wrote a novel. My research interests include contemporary and historical poetry and the relationship between gender and colonialism. I love teaching, and I consider it my main passion. I'm very excited to work with students on their projects!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Creative Writing
Do you have something you feel the need to express? A whole story, perhaps, or a feeling that is longing to be put to words. I would love to work with you on helping your ideas find expression: through fiction, poetry, or personal essays! To start this project, I will find existing writing that speaks to you and relates to your interest. Then, using that as an example, you will generate your own work, and we will workshop it together!
Languages I know
French, HindiTeaching experience
During my graduate degree at Northwestern University, I designed and taught a Creative Writing class at the local jail. I also TA'd for an Introduction to Poetry class for first-year undergraduates, and I taught a section of Introduction to Creative Writing, where we read and wrote in genres of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. As an undergraduate, I worked for 3 years as a math tutor at the University of Michigan's Math Lab, and I also privately tutored students in math and writing.Credentials
