Bio
Hello! I am a second year medical student at Florida Atlantic University. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology with a concentration in Systems Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. My current interests are cancer biology, mother-baby health, and public health. My current research interests are focused on breast imaging and surgical oncology. I also have experience in public health as an intern for California’s Healthy Stores for Healthy Communities Project for vaping cessation. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, crafts, hiking, and spending time with my family. I’m so excited to work with you!Project ideas
Say No to Vaping
Tobacco is a known risk factor for many diseases including various cancers and cardiovascular disease. Surges in e-cigarette use, especially among teens, are concerning. In this project, the student will analyze current research regarding the effects of vaping on health and then create a poster, pamphlet, social media infographic, or a blog to help increase awareness about these detrimental health effects and potential recommendations for quitting tobacco. The student may choose to conduct research regarding the availability of tobacco products and attitudes of teenagers regarding tobacco (before and after a presentation of risk factors). Additionally, the student may choose a body system and conduct a literature review on the effects of smoking on that particular system (example: harmful effects of smoking on the developing fetus).
Health-Related Review Paper
The student will choose a disease of interest and write an in-depth scientific review of the disease process as well as clinical implications. The student will compare normal body functioning and compare it to pathological states at both the cellular level and at a systemic level. The student will also look at clinical features of the disease such as risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and current research.
