Bio

Hi, my name is Evan! I’m a researcher at MIT, a recent grad of Tufts, and a grad student at Georgia Tech. During undergrad, I studied Computer Science and Cognitive & Brain Sciences. My interests reside in quantitative development, predictive analytics, machine learning, and optimization algorithms. I have extensive experience in industry, R&D, and academia. In my spare time, I enjoy coffee, travel, long-distance running, and searching for new music on Spotify. Looking to positively contribute towards the academic success of my peers and learn from others – I've spent several years teaching, mentoring, and leading various research projects. I'm excited to hear what your interests are too, and to get started in bringing your ideas to life!

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Sentiment Analysis: Twitter Data and Market Shifts

Analyzing tone and sentiment of prominent political and industry figures as they correlate with market movements, based on company and industry-specific tweet content.

Logistic Regression for Cancer-Risk Screening

Calculating patient cancer risk from relevant medical data, and determining if biopsy operation should take place. Maximizing a true positive rate and positive predictive value.

Coding skills

Python, C++, MATLAB, Java, R

Teaching experience

I served as a TA for Tufts’ CS Department for four years – allowing me to meet, instruct, and learn from hundreds of students in undergrad and grad programs (Intro CS, Discrete Math, Computational Models in Cognitive Science). It is incredibly important to me that all students find learning welcoming and accessible, regardless of individual background or prior computing experience.
