- Research Program Mentor

MS at Brown University

Expertise

Computer science, web development, anything programming related

Bio

I started my education in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and while I was there I did undergraduate research in Computational Fluid Dynamics while also pursuing a minor in Scientific and Engineering Computing. While I was at Georgia Tech I focused on satellite design and operation, but I became more interested in computer science and data science as I went through the program. I transitioned to Data Science after graduating by pursuing a Masters degree from Brown University. After working as a data scientist for a bit, I realized my true passions was in data engineering and software engineer. I now work as a senior data engineer in the biotech industry, and focus on backend development (and some frontend and application development as well). I'm a huge fantasy and science fiction reader, and I love talking about anything simulated. I've always liked helping others learn, especially if its learning something that I've struggled with in the past. I hope that by mentoring I can help the next generation by sharing my experiences, both good and bad, so that others can benefit.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Build a website for anything you want!

Build a website to host anything you want! Some examples include: - A personal website, showcasing another project you worked on, your interests, or even a blog! - A scientific/engineering toolbox that lets users make some kind of common calculation or estimate using their own inputs (e.g. simulate the growth of an investment, compute some chemical/physical properties of a system, analyze the reading level of some input text) - Visualization/interaction with any kind of dataset you want If there's a topic/field you're interested in (e.g. chemistry, history, math, economics, etc.) there probably something cool in the field that you can showcase in a website for others to learn about! You will need some basic understanding of programming in a language like Python or JavaScript, and some idea of a topic you want to build a website for.
