Bio
My experiences of working with diverse communities across the healthcare spectrum have adequately equipped me with the tools necessary to serve as a bridge between the advancements of science and technology to improve the quality of life for people of various backgrounds and identities. Specifically, I want to encourage people to feel more in control of their lives and healthcare decisions, despite their circumstances and predicaments. I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University in the health policy, population health, and epidemiology departments.Project ideas
Policy Brief: Expanding Access to Genetic Testing for Cancer Risk
Core Question: What are the main policy-relevant barriers that limit access to cancer genetic testing for underserved populations, and what legislative or administrative strategies can increase equitable uptake? Objectives: Identify and categorize barriers to access—structural, financial, sociocultural, and clinical. Analyze existing policy efforts (e.g., Medicaid coverage, federal initiatives, state programs). Provide actionable policy recommendations to expand access equitably. Translate findings into a clear infographic to raise public and stakeholder awareness.
Community Survey: Awareness of Hereditary Cancer Syndromes
Core Question: To what extent are individuals from diverse communities aware of hereditary cancer syndromes, and what factors influence their awareness and attitudes toward genetic testing? Objectives: Measure baseline awareness of hereditary cancer syndromes in diverse demographic groups. Identify barriers to understanding or accessing genetic testing and counseling. Explore trusted sources of health information related to cancer in different communities. Provide recommendations for culturally sensitive public health interventions.
