Patient Case Simulation

Explore 2-3 case-based patient scenarios which will involve a review of their medical history, treatments, and plans for discharging home from the hospital. This project will focus on learning about what factors might influence a person's ability to live at home independently following an injury/illness and ways to evaluate/treat them from the rehabilitation standpoint. This will involve researching into different conditions and critical thinking of how someone's personal or environmental factors may influence their health outcomes and how to problem solve through those difficulties.

Community Wellness Campaign

Choose a disease or illness of interest to you (Dementia, Stroke, COVID, etc) and explore ways you might be able to fight this/bring awareness to it in your community or another community of interest. For this project you would go through all the steps of planning and implementing a public health initiative- from exploring ways you would fund it, how to effectively implement it, and how you would measure it's effectiveness.

Let's Write About It

With so many things going on in the world today, there's a lot to talk about and think about. Choose a public health or medical topic that interests you (ex: gun violence, COVID-19 health inequity, the winter storms in Texas) which will be the center of your project. We will walk through the steps as if it were a research project you were doing in college. From the first steps of literature review, to the final steps of presenting your project in the form of a paper, blog, presentation, etc. The goal of this project is to gain a greater understanding of an issue while also preparing you for college-level research projects.
