Bio
Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am a PhD candidate at Harvard University, where I specialize in ancient Greek archaeology. I am particularly interested in the intersection of Greek literature and material culture, ancient religion, and Greek and Roman art. I am also passionate about cultural heritage preservation and museum studies. My dissertation is on the sensory nature of ancient Greek animal sacrifice. I did my MA in Art History at Columbia University and my BA in Classical Archaeology and Greek Literature at Dickinson College. I have been on archaeological excavations in Turkey, Greece, and England. I am also an avid practitioner of yoga.Project ideas
A Translation Project
The student can pick important or interesting sections of an ancient Greek text/ author and create their own English translation. Each translation project can include an introduction to the passage (the approach taken, context of the piece, biography of the author, etc.), followed by a reading of the student's translation. This type of project lends itself well to a podcast format, so the translation can be recited out loud, but can be modified for a written format.
Archaeology and Cultural Heritage
This project can take an in-depth look at an archaeological site, a class of archaeological artifacts, a specific museum display, or an issue surrounding the field of cultural heritage management. This project can take many forms: a research paper, a series of blog posts, or a podcast.
