Bio

I am a fourth-year medical student pursuing a career in anesthesiology, with a longstanding passion for clinical research and medical education. Over the past eight years, I have contributed to projects ranging from emergency medicine, anesthesiology, and a multi-institutional vaccine trial. More recently, I have focused on developing and evaluating medical education curricula, with the goal of creating programs that can expand beyond a single institution. Outside of medicine, I enjoy rock climbing, running, biking, snowboarding, cooking, and exploring the outdoors. I recently completed a half marathon and love traveling to experience new cities and local cultures.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

How Neighborhoods Influence Health

This project explores how neighborhood features such as access to parks, grocery stores, public transportation, healthcare facilities and safe walking areas can affect community health. The student will learn about environmental health, social determinants of health and how maps and public data can be used to identify differences between communities. Information may be gathered through online maps, public databases, neighborhood observations and local health department reports. The final project could be presented as a presentation, infographic, or blog post comparing health-related resources across neighborhoods.

Investigating Factors That Influence Vaccination Rates

This project examines how factors such as healthcare access, education, income, misinformation and trust in the medical system may influence vaccination rates. The student will learn about infectious disease prevention, health disparities, public health communication and data analysis. Information may be gathered through scientific literature, public health reports and publicly available vaccination data from different communities or regions. The student may compare trends and discuss possible strategies for improving vaccine education and access. The final project could be presented as an infographic or blog post.
