Bio
I am passionate about understanding how the brain works and how it communicates with the rest of the body, such as the immune system. I have worked in biomedical research for 10 years, focusing on the neuroscience of memory and neurodegenerative diseases. My work has also incorporated molecular and cellular biology as well as stem cell biology. Outside of science my hobbies include dancing, travelling, and playing ultimate frisbee. I enjoy spending time outside and finding fun new restaurants to try out. Some of my favorite foods are sushi and pizza.Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Write a review paper
In this project you will write a scientific review paper on a topic of your choice. The topic can be on any aspect of neuroscience that interests you, from 'how memory works' to 'why sleep is important' to 'how the brain processes taste.' You will assess the current scientific literature to gather information on your topic. Then you'll put together a paper including background information, specific examples, figures, and an explanation of why this area of research is important. You'll gain skills in reading scientific articles, writing/editing, and creating visual diagrams to explain scientific processes.
