Bio
Hello! I'm Dakota. I've spent years studying Biochemistry - cultivating my passion for understanding some of the complexities of how our world works, seeing questions stand out, and working to answer them with the tools I have available. Whether it be in the lab expressing various proteins to help determine their function, building small molecules and peptides for medicinal therapeutics, or writing about my future research plans in grant proposals - I've enjoyed taking each opportunity to expand my toolbox. I love to communicate - I'm a classic extrovert. Outside of the lab, you'll find me with my family, friends, and dog playing games, traveling, eating good food, cooking, etc. If there's a DIY project to tackle, I'm on it! I think that speaks a lot into my problem-solving nature. I'm excited to potentially work together and make your project as successful as you're hoping it to be!Project ideas
Mock Research Conference Poster
Let's practice and fine tune your research and scientific communication skills by making a research poster that you would present at a science research conference. You'll spend time researching a topic, coming to an understanding enough to create a poster with descriptions, figures, etc. At the end of our time together, you will present your poster on your topic in a presentation manner (with Q & A), just as you would at a conference.
Grant Proposal: Specific Aims Page
If you're wanting to go to grad school, you'll likely be writing a Grant/Funding Proposal at some point! Let's practice some of the most important steps to that project. We want to research a topic of your interest and find a missing piece. Together we will walk through how to splice that missing piece up into different goals for your intended research - and how to write that in a way that shows funding sources that your research is valuable and needed.
