Industry expert at Tufts University

Expertise

Medicine (family medicine physician)

Bio

I was born in Southern California and raised in Maine. However, I spent the last 3.5 years in Seattle completing my family medicine training and have relocated to Florida at the end of 2021 to be closer to family. I'll let you know which corner of the US is best to live in once I figure that out :). My interests in medicine include preventative health, community health, obstetrics, procedures, nutrition, integrative medicine, and global health. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying new foods, cooking, spending time outdoors, watching movies/dog videos on YouTube, and reading. My non-professional aspirations are to be an adequate oil painter and master gardener some day.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

How to be present in the age of smartphones

Are you part of Gen Z and interested in learning about what role smartphones play in your life? Consider exploring this question and learning about how people's mental health is affected by smartphone use. In this project, you would collect your own data (re: screen time, app use, etc.), analyze your data, and present it in whatever form speaks to you (research paper, podcast, video, etc.).

Nutrition in the United States

Despite being a resource rich country, many communities in the United States suffer from malnourishment. The way we approach food in the US has changed, continues to change, and differs among other countries. This project can go in multiple directions (how we educate people, produce, access, process, cook, etc. food) and can be presented in a variety of forms (research paper, video, podcast format, or an experiment where we collect our own data).
