Training a Deep Learning Classification Algorithm to classify between diseased and healthy patient’s ECG

Deep learning is a rapidly expanding field and is beginning to be used in the field of medicine. Recently, researchers have shown world-class diagnostic capabilities on chest xrays for various types of disease detections. Throguh this project, you will have a chance to implement a deep learning algorithm to train a machine learning algorithm to classify healthy vs myocardial infarcted patient’s ECG recording. Prerequisite: Programming in python

Future outlook on stem cell and tissue engineering: what does it take to grow a heart?

In recent years, stem cells have been a hot research topic in regenerative medicine and disease modeling. We will explore the recent history of stem cells and tissue engineering, and advances made in the past years. We will also explore promising areas and hurdles for potential future applications of this technology such as growing a full organ from your own stem cells or predicting effects of novel drugs using your own cells through personalized medicine. The deliverable for this project would be a review paper or a presentation detailing the progress and outlook for this field.
