Introduction to Proofs

When I was in high school, I had never heard of the concept of a "proof" in a mathematical context. Learning about them is essential in the study of mathematics. I would love to do a paper or book review with a student (we can pick the topic and book together) that has the student learn about proofs and see how they interact with basic mathematics.

Paper Review in Applied Math

We can do a paper review (turned into a podcast!) of cutting edge research in the intersection of math, computer programming, and an exciting application. The field of applied mathematics is so unbelievably broad, with applications in physics, biology, engineering, finance, and more. I would love to learn about a new application with the student and explore the true power of mathematics in the real world.
